Care for a bit of nature and glass? This class is an introduction to stained glass making. We’ll be going over the basics of the process from start to finish and you will work on making your own piece to take home. For this class, you will use one textured clear piece, and one smooth clear piece. Your choice will be what you put between the glass. I have dried leaves to choose from for this pressed class. You have the option to leave your piece silver, or acid stain to copper or black with this class.
Techniques Used:
- Scoring and “cutting” glass
- Grinding of glass pieces
- Application of copper foil
- Flux and soldering of the pieces
Materials Provided:
- Glass of various colors and textures
- Copper foil, flux, solder, chain
- Pressed Leaves
- Cut resistant gloves
- Note: we understand that stained glass artisans rarely use gloves while working with glass. We will have the gloves available for you to use, but it is your choice. By not using our (or your) provided gloves, you are accepting the risk and liability of cuts and abrasions.
- Safety Glasses
- NOT optional. We will provide basic eye protection, or you are welcome to bring your own. If you normally wear glasses, that is acceptable for this activity. Contacts do not satisfy the safety requirement.
