In this course, we will be using OnShape, a powerful and user-friendly cloud-based CAD software. OnShape offers a versatile platform that is perfect for creating detailed and precise models, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced users.
Throughout the class, you will learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling, including an understanding of basic geometric shapes, how to manipulate these shapes to create more complex forms, and the key principles of designing models that are optimized for 3D printing. Our expert instructor will guide you through the process of transforming your ideas into printable 3D models, offering hands-on experience and personalized assistance.
We’ll also cover important aspects of 3D printing, such as selecting the right materials and understanding the printing process. This knowledge will be crucial in ensuring that your designs are not only creative but also practical and printable.
What to Bring:
To ensure you get the most out of this class, we ask that all participants bring their own laptop. This will allow you to work directly on your projects during the class and continue refining your skills at home. Please make sure your laptop can access the internet and is capable of running OnShape (most modern laptops will meet these requirements).
If you don’t have a laptop, please let us know in advance. We have a limited number of computers available for use, but it’s important that we’re aware of your needs ahead of time to ensure availability.

The class fee is taxable per Alabama admission tax law. You can cancel up to five (5) days in advance for a full refund. Any cancellation within five (5) days of the event is not eligible for cancellation. Your class fee can be transferred to a later class.
