Discover the beautiful Japanese art of Kinusaiga, a relaxing no-sew technique that transforms fabric into stunning works of art. Using a pre-cut design, colorful fabrics, and simple tools, you’ll create a textured piece by tucking fabric into grooves. No sewing skills are required!
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn:
- The basics of Kinusaiga
- How to select and layer fabrics for depth and dimension
- Techniques for neatly tucking fabric into your design
- Create your abduction item (a cow if pictured – but maybe you’d like a cat, a person, a chicken, etc. – we’ll make it happen!!)
By the end of class, you’ll take home a completed Kinusaiga artwork ready to hang.
All materials and tools are included. This workshop is perfect for beginners as well as experienced crafters looking to explore a unique fiber art technique.
This is most certainly not a traditional design, very kitschy and some fun. If you are interested in a more traditional design check out the Kinusaiga workshop I’ll be offering at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in September. There you can choose from three different plant patterns.
